During my keynote, I took the participants on an inspiring journey to the great explorers and adventurers of history. Together we explored historic routes, daring first ascents and exciting expeditions that have not only changed the world, but also the way we think and act today. As a ‘seeing passenger’, the audience was able to experience at first hand how explorer nature and a spirit of adventure lay the foundations for sustainable success.
A central point of my presentation was the realisation that ‘Explorers are what they do. Adventurers are what they do. And you are what you do. And you have what it takes to be an explorer too!’ This statement resonated particularly strongly with the participants, who have to assert themselves in a world of digital transformation, disruption and VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity). I showed how an explorer mindset can help to navigate meaningfully through uncertain terrain and achieve both personal and organisational goals.
In the question and answer session that followed, participants were able to share their own challenges and experiences. Together we discussed how to overcome obstacles, use setbacks as learning opportunities and strengthen team spirit. It was inspiring to see how much enthusiasm and commitment there was in the room to put the concepts presented into practice.
I would like to thank all the participants and the Dr. Oetker team for the excellent organisation and the inspiring atmosphere. It was an honour to be able to share my experiences and insights, and I look forward to organising more exciting presentations and workshops in the future.
See you next time and … stay adventurous!
