How true safety is created

That’s what it’s all about.

That’s also the only way to develop true safety. Let’s take the example of an ice bath. For many people it is a risk. Instead of trying it, they persist in thinking that there is too much danger. This often means that they simply don’t want to move out of their comfort zone.

Others sit down in the ice – under guidance – experience something, understand something – and are then a big step further. Now they could say: “The cold of a body of water is no longer a problem for me”.

That is precisely the safety that can be achieved through personal daring.

Or take stage fright. Instead of looking at it and tackling it, many stay in their fear and let it rule them. Other stage-frightened people present in front of the mirror, the stuffed animals, the pets, good friends, then on the screen – until at some point they stand on a stage, yes, and perhaps experience a setback – part of every story – but simply do not give up – and continue until the stage fright simply dissolves.

All the heroes and heroines we admire so much – Luke & Leia Skywalker, Harry Potter & Hermione, Bilbo Baggins and many more – they all dared something. Staked something. That’s the only way they got anywhere at all.

In the end, it gave them the safety, the certainty they needed.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea to see yourself as the hero of your own life story. You don’t become a hero by birth. You only become a hero by taking risks.
